I woke up yesterday morning with some slight swelling in my hands. Not uncommon. They're swollen most mornings, but usually after I'm up a while they return to normal. Not yesterday. They were swollen most of the day and by last night, my ring finger hurt so bad I couldn't take it anymore. So... with the help of some lotion and gentle tugging, I pulled my wedding ring off. And then I cried about it.
And today, I feel completely naked without it. It hasn't been off my finger longer than 5 minutes (drying my hands, getting the ring cleaned/checked, etc.) since hubby put it there 2 1/2 years ago. I absolutely hate that I can't wear it now. And have this horrible fear that the swelling won't go away and I won't be able to wear it again without having it sized. Granted, I would prefer that over having to have it cut off at the hospital because of swelling. And I know if I end up with an IV I'll certainly get puffy from that and would be miserable with it on my hand. So, I do realize it is for the best right now. The hubby graciously pointed out in an effort to make me feel better, that it is pretty good I made it to 39 weeks with it on my hand. I know lots of women who have to take theirs off much, much sooner. But I feel so lost without it.

Oh I can imagine that that must be difficult. BUT, wow you made it to 39 weeks. Amazing. I am so looking forward to what is coming! About the ring, can't you put it on a nice small necklace/chain and put it around your neck? You'd still have it with you in that case when the baby arrives?
Good luck! I'll keep looking here for news now frequently :D
Hugs!
sorry about the ring. glad you were able to get it off though. i've thought about that happening to me. my hands are small and generally cold, so my ring still fits fine, but i'm sure things can change real quick. i'd do the ring on the necklace idea if you could. i can't believe you're so close!! i'm exactly 15 wks behind you. i can't wait to hear about the birth...i'll be checking back often. good luck!!
I was going to say the same thing about wearing it on a chain around your neck. Would that help? Can't believe you'll be holding your baby boy in your arms before you know it. Can't wait to see pictures!! :)
Oh lord, I had to take mine off at 30 weeks, I think--maybe sooner.
Every time you post, I think it's going to be a post from your husband about your new baby--so exciting!
I had to take mine off at 24 weeks because I was so swollen. I know exactly how you feel! I was able to get it back on within a month after having Dylan, and I am sure you will be able to, too! Hang in there! You're so close!
